If you’ve been on a road trip with yunguns you’ve probably done it yourself…scanned the horizon along the interstate for those unmistakable golden arches. Without question, McDonald’s has capitalized on the importance of signage. Signage serves as a guide for customers to find your business. In this fast paced world where attention spans last no longer than a tweet, if you are in the retail business you should think about that. I only mention it because I am appraising a retail business in a small town in Kentucky and their sign is as low to the ground as possible. And no, it’s not because of any sign ordinance. It’s an older sign.
I once was able to purchase 25 acres at a deep discount because the sign on the property was ill-placed. It was right in front of a dilapidated mobile home that was on the site. There were plenty of investors in the area searching for vacant sites like this one but because of the placement of the sign, no one really understood what being sold!
My dad likes to say that “A word to the wise is sufficient.” And I hope it is.
